Crosswords are like a hobby; an educative, entertaining and relaxing one due to which you discover how many things you know and how many things there is still left to learn. And apparently, the number of things yet to learn is way more than what you know. As one of the most prominent philosophers in the history of mankind Socrates used to say “I know that I know nothing” but this saying should serve an additional stimulus for you to enrich your overall knowledge as much as you can.

Paris and questions related to this city of love tend to appear in crosswords quite often. Questions vary, so do the topics but they all refer to Paris. Those might be questions related to Paris history, Paris people, or major Paris sites. It can be anything and we have picked some of the most “popular” ones.

Paris major museum — This question also might be written “Paris museum” and the answer is the Louvre, the most visited museum in the world, which brags about some of the most precious pieces of art, among them the world known “La Gioconda” (Mona Lisa) the riddle of which seems to remain unsolved. Other than that there is also “The Last Supper,” which has not caused less interest.

Basic facts about the museum — the Louvre Palace has been housing the museum since 1793; it employs around 2500 people, the museum is wheelchair accessible.

The River of Paris — Wherever you read about the river of Paris it refers to the lively Seine — the beautiful river is one the most impressive symbols of Paris along with its magnificent bridges.

The Seine is a 776km long river, with a number of outstanding bridges, which are among the major sites in Paris. Make sure to visit Pont Neuf — it’s the oldest new bridge in the Seine.

The Hunchback of … — This question might also include tags like Quasimodo, bell ringer, whatever it is, the question refers to the Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of the most spectacular religious sites in Paris. The cathedral has become especially popular to Victor Hugo’s French-Gothic novel titled “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame“.

Notr-Dame de Paris is a large Catholic cathedral located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris. The cathedral presently appears more like a museum and not a cathedral where you can utter a prayer. Perhaps, it’s due to the number of visitors and Paris tourists who basically come here to explore and not to pray.

Victor Hugo, Louis Braille, Marie Curie — The fame of these honorable French people has already gone beyond France. They all represent different fields and spheres but what they do have in common is that they rest in the Pantheon of Paris. Their cultural heritage is one of the greatest not only for the French but also the entire humanity.

Basic facts about the Pantheon — It resembles a temple with neoclassical style being the dominating one. Built of stone and marble it is 110 meter long and 85 meters wide.

Paris symbol — While Paris has lots of symbols, if you ever come across such a question, then n all likelihood it refers to the Eiffel Tower, the subject of love and hatred of many people. This controversy has been chasing the tower since the very day of its construction and appearance in Paris. One of the most remarkable French writers — Guy de Maupassant is one of the people who disliked the tower. The writer was asked why he always goes to the tower’s restaurant if he hates it so much and in answer to this question he answered that it’s the only place from where the tower cannot be seen.

The writer was absolutely right as visitors of Paris will all agree that the Eiffel Tower seems to wink at you no matter where you are. All Paris hotels have one goal in their mind — to offer a window view of the Eiffel Tower, all Paris restaurants want their guests to see the Eiffel upon their dinner and on the whole, it’s what all Paris tourists want — to be as close to the tower as possible.
